Proviron is among the oldest anabolic steroids, having been released on the market in 1934. Proviron is a unique steroid. It can be used in muscle mass accumulation cycles, but not for its anabolic properties. It is also used in definition cycles, but again with a special purpose. The action of this steroid is a strong androgenic one without converting into estrogen. In clinical use, Proviron is used to treat sexual dysfunctions, which usually result from low levels of endogenous testosterone. It can reverse problems such as lack of libido and impotence or even increase sperm count. Proviron does not inhibit the body’s own testosterone production and is very androgenic so it can stimulate the body to produce its own testosterone, increasing the quantity but especially the quality of sperm. Although it is strongly androgenic and anabolic (it is similar to Halotestin), the anabolic effect of this steroid does not cause an increase in muscle mass. This is due to the fact that it is easily converted into inactive metabolites like DHT (dihydrotestosterone). In the world of athletes, Proviron is used as an anti-estrogen, preventing or slowing the aromatization of other steroids. The result is comparable to that of Arimidex (although less effective), preventing the accumulation of estrogen in the body. This is unlike Nolvadex which only blocks the ability of estrogen to bind to certain receptors in tissues. The anti-aromatization method is preferable as it is more direct and more effective in combating estrogenic side effects. Another disadvantage of Nolvadex, if it is discontinued too early, there is a risk of the “yo-yo” effect, estrogenic side effects may return. Most use Proviron and Nolvadex simultaneously, they attack the same problems from different angles, achieving much greater efficiency. Proviron’s anti-estrogenic properties are not unique. Other steroids such as dihydrotestosterone or Masteron have also proven to have the same properties, being successfully used in combating gynecomastia and breast cancer. Proviron is also used when a low estrogen level and a high androgenic one are desired. It is very well associated with Winstrol, Oxandrolone or Primobolan. Here, Proviron can help strengthen and increase muscle density. Plus, it has a synergistic effect with other steroids. Another feature is its ability to inhibit SHBG, a protein that binds to testosterone and deactivates it. But its main characteristic remains the increase in androgenicity of other steroids. It is best for female athletes to completely avoid this steroid, if they care about their femininity. Proviron Administration For men, the typical dose is 25-150mg/day. These doses are sufficient to be sure that gynecomastia will not occur. As I said earlier, it is combined with Nolvadex especially when strong estrogenic steroids such as Dianabol or testosterone are used. 50 mg of Proviron and 20 mg of Nolvadex per day have proven to be extremely effective in such cycles.
